Amazing what they can do with a pile of dirt, isn’t it


Remember going to the beach as a child with your shovel and pail to spend the day splashing in the waves and building “castles” in the sand?  Only yours merely looked like an upside down bucket with maybe a salt water filled moat around it.  There might have been multiple buckets if Dad decided to help.

Now there is the World Sand Sculpting Academy in The Hague and there is the sand museum in Tottori, Japan.  World wide competitions take place annually.


Meanwhile, here in Puerto Vallarta, with 35 miles of sandy beaches around the edge of Banderas Bay, finding sand is not a problem to practise this art.  November to May is virtually rain free with average daily temperatures hovering around 73F.
