Spices. Some are more common and familiar like vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. But how about cardamon, chili peppers, anise, cloves , caraway, lavender and more.
Being from Sri Lanka, Ms Seneviratne knows her stuff when it comes to the history and legends behind each of the spices. It makes for an interesting read.
As intrigued I am by so many of these recipes, I’m not sure I will actually bake them myself. For comfort food, there is nothing like a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie. However, others ready for something more exotic will love this book.
